We Run it Together

In just its 3rd year, LifePrep is being run in

10 Yeshivos and has 45 instructors.

Curriculum

The LifePrep curriculum is tailored to today’s Yeshiva students. Courses focus on practical life skills and real-world applications. Utilizing module-based instruction, each class is taught via PowerPoint presentations, using true-life realistic scenarios and hands-on coursework.

LifePrep courses feature relevant yet intriguing topics. Even core competencies are taught in the context of everyday scenarios. Language Arts, for example, becomes Persuasive Writing and Public Speaking; and Math is presented as Economics, Budgeting, and Business Accounting.

Teachers

LifePrep’s unique curriculum attracts top-notch talent, drawn from a pool of prominent professionals and specialists, to teach each course. Teachers go “beyond the book”, bringing their real-world expertise into the classroom, eliciting energy and enthusiasm from the students.

Attorneys teach Basic Law; politicians teach Civics; paramedics and health professionals teach Health and Safety, accountants and businessmen teach Financial Literacy, Budgeting, and Economics; engineers teach S.T.E.M; orators and professional writers teach the Language Arts, and so on. Instructors have the flexibility to either devote a small part of their day to teaching their favorite topic or to retain a full schedule by rotating among participating Yeshivas.

FAQS

How can one program be the solution when each Yeshiva is unique in its own way?

LifePrep is not a one-size-fits-all. Each principal works with LifePrep to tailor the program to his yeshiva. One of LifePrep’s greatest strengths is its adaptability. Although LifePrep has created a full suite of courses, decisions such as which courses to offer and how many periods to provide are entirely at the individual Yeshiva’s discretion.

What track record does LifePrep have?

LifePrep began three years ago and is already running with tremendous success in ten Yeshivos. These include world-renowned yeshivas such as Yeshiva of Telshe Alumni, Yeshivas Novominsk, Yeshiva Tiferes Boruch of Springfield, Bais Shraga, and Ohr Naftoli among others.

How much does it cost Yeshivos?

Yeshivos participating in the LifePrep system generally pay a premium of what amounts to an average of 25 percent more. Yeshivos view this worthwhile investment favorably as it relieves them of a tremendous burden and allows them to devote their energies elsewhere.

Can LifePrep graduates receive an accredited diploma?

Yes, but the details vary by state. In New Jersey, for example, LifePrep’s curriculum satisfies the requirements necessary to earn a diploma. In New York, however, five Regents courses must be integrated into the program to prepare the students for the Regents exams. The courses themselves can then be structured to satisfy state requirements for credits and instructional hours as well, which is the second component necessary for a Regents diploma.

Does LifePrep have Rabbinical backing?

Yes. Rav Elya Brudny shlit”a, Rosh Yeshivas Mir and member of the Moetzes of Agudas Yisroel of America, has publicly stated that, in his opinion, LifePrep is not only Zikui Harabbim of the highest order but also considered Hachzakas HaTorah, due to the direct impact structured afternoons have on the bochur’s entire day. LifePrep enjoys the support of many other leading Roshei Yeshiva and Mechanchim as well, who view LifePrep -as Rav Yaakov Bender shlit”a put it, “the program Klal Yisroel has been waiting for!”

Before the school year, LifePrep collaborates with the principal to design a program in line with his Yeshiva’s specifications. Having designed a curriculum, and provided the staffing to implement it, LifePrep continues to support the principal throughout the year, by monitoring and ensuring continued compliance. Available options for principals include grading, report cards, student attendance records (emailed monthly to parents), orientation, and PTA meetings.

Excited to learn material that provides tangible real-life skills, students begin to appreciate and enjoy their English studies. They come to class with a positive mindset and respect for their teachers, whom they know have already “made it” in their fields. The result is less student apathy, less teacher frustration, and fewer discipline problems.

While there will always be some students who act out, the principal’s job of maintaining discipline is made far easier by having a structured, stimulating program, taught by professionals, which is overseen, monitored, and tracked by LifePrep.
